What you need to do beforehand

You will need to come to this day of writing and learning with something to work with. Our experience has shown that the following work well:

  • A shorter summary of a research paper to be developed - you should summarise why the research is needed, your research question, how your methods address the research question and preliminary findings
  • A draft for a full paper for which you want a read from a critical friend to hone your approach
  • A paper which was rejected from a particular outlet which you are looking to redevelop, or a difficult R&R where you are looking for some guidance for how to navigate the review process.

What you need to do on the day

Come fully engaged, ready to switch off your phone and stop multi-tasking and enjoy the experience of writing and learning in a group.

  • PhD students
  • Post-doctoral researchers
  • Any academic junior or senior interested in spending a day writing in a supportive environment
