Paper Development Workshop for PhD students and early career researchers (Department of Management)

The Paper Development Workshop (PDW) is an excellent opportunity to receive expert feedback on your work-in-progress research papers from well-published academics. Successful applicants will join us for a half a day PDW of thought-provoking keynotes, developmental paper roundtables and full paper presentations.

Who can apply?

We welcome applications from all business and management doctoral students at any stage and early career researchers who have submitted their thesis within the last three years. You do not need to be affiliated with Birkbeck to apply for a place in this event.

Key deadlines

Submission of Abstracts: by 31 July 
Submission of Full papers of the accepted abstracts: by 30 September

How to apply

To apply for a place you need to submit an abstract as per the guidelines below:

Developmental Paper Roundtable: Aimed at researchers that are in the early stages of their paper development. To apply for a place, please submit a short abstract of up to 500 words which should include the key concepts from the literature, the research methods and the research questions/hypotheses of the paper.
Full Paper Presentation: Aimed at researchers with academic papers at a more developed stage. To apply for a place, please submit an extended abstract of up to 1,000 words which should include your theoretical framework, research methods and research questions/hypotheses, as well as empirical material with key findings and contributions.

Please submit your short or extended abstract to Marya Ghorbankhani at m.ghorbankhani@bbk.ac.uk by 30 June 2022. As slots are limited, decisions will be made based on the quality of the submitted abstract.

If you are successful, you will be asked to submit a full paper by 30 September (1,500-2,000 words for the Development Paper Roundtable or 5,000-7,000 words for the Full Paper Presentation).

Cost and Prizes/Awards

This workshop is free and funded by the School of Business, Economics and Informatics, Birkbeck, University of London.

We will offer two prizes and certificates for the best full paper and best developmental paper.
