When:
Venue: Birkbeck Main Building, Malet Street

Book your place

This public talk shall exhibit insights from different thematic layers of field research undertaken as ethnographic case studies across India, by the Centre for New Economics Studies (CNES') initiative: Visual Storyboards. The talk brings together the Director of CNES, Deepanshu Mohan, and the Photographer and Field Research, Jignesh Mistry, who leads the Visual Storyboards initiatives.

Visual Storyboards, as a methodological and pedagogical experiment, is conceptually aimed at designing audio-visual models of documentation in social science studies and ethnographic research, documenting lives-livelihoods of marginalized, vulnerable populations.

This initiative's research work so far has spatially concentrated its focus across different urban and rural spaces in India, studying intersecting thematic areas of interdisciplinary research scholarship encompassing fields of development studies; migration and mobility studies; social psychology; political sociology of work; development economics, and public law and development.

More details on the stories completed by Visual Storyboards can be accessed from its website here and video essays from here. The venue at the public talk will also display a few photographic prints from the team's curated selection (accessible from here).

This event is free and open to all.
