Confirmed Speakers:

Liz Kullmann DPhil Candidate in Criminology, Centre for Criminology, University of Oxford

Liz is undertaking ESRC-funded DPhil research that explores how penal power is being used as a tool for strengthening national sovereignty in England & Wales. Additionally, Liz is involved in developing a video blog series for Border Criminologies with the aim of disseminating academic research to a wider audience.

Richard Sen MSc Criminal Justice Policy, London School of Economics (LSE) & Research Assistant, Institute for Criminal Policy Research (ICPR)

Richard recently completed an MSc in Criminal Justice Policy at LSE and is employed as a research assistant at the ICPR to assist with a study on the enablers of organised fraud and money laundering (2016-2018). His research interests lie in cultural criminology, particularly the graffiti writing subculture.

Daniel Smith MSc Criminal Justice Policy, London School of Economics (part time) & Applications Engineer, IO Integrations (full time)

Daniel recently completed LSE’s MSc Criminal Justice Policy programme, while also continuing his decade-long career in IT-related consultancy, development and implementations. Linking his professional and academic interests in the social aspects of computing and criminology, he intends to explore the deprivation of digital communication among prisoners.

About Criminology Careers Events
Criminology Careers Events introduce students to criminology related employers and the opportunities and challenges involved in developing a career path. Events cover:

  • The practicalities of developing a career, from work experience to recruitment.
  • Themes relevant to criminology research and teaching, from criminal justice policy and practice to social and racial justice.

Each session lasts 90 minutes, and involves short talks from a panel of professionals who explain how they arrived at their current role. There is opportunity for group Q&A as well as informal 1-1 time with speakers. Events are an opportunity to socialise with peers in the department. Refreshments and snacks are provided.
