ILC Workshop: Recording interviews for research projects
When:
—
Venue:
Birkbeck Main Building, Malet Street
If you would like to record interviews for podcasts, assignments, project work, journalism or oral history research, this session will cover the essentials. We will cover finding and approaching interviewees, preparing for an interview, practical interviewing techniques, ethical and safety considerations, how to monitor the recording and microphone techniques. Advice will also be given on recording to professional standard for broadcast and archive collections.
You will then have the opportunity to practice with the Zoom H5 digital recorders and lapel microphones that can be borrowed by Birkbeck staff and students (without charge) from the library. Led by Dr Toby Butler, an experienced journalist and interviewer who has worked on numerous research and oral history projects.
