Migration: Economic Problem or Economic Opportunity?
Dr Bell will ask thought-provoking questions about Economics: does migration harm low-wage workers? Does it help or hurt the economy overall? Students will learn what economic models can tell us about migration, explore the cases where economic models fail, and discuss the critical role of data and natural experiments in modern economics.
This taster offers a glimpse into the BSc Economics offered at Birkbeck, and how it helps students think critically about some of the most important modern economic issues. It will be followed by a tour of the beautiful Bloomsbury campus, led by a current Birkbeck student.
