Linking London BTEC Practitioner Group Meeting
When:
—
Venue:
Online
At our first BTEC / Vocational Practitioner Group meeting of the academic year, we will explore the latest developments in the Government’s plans for post-16 qualifications, including the future of BTECs, the introduction of V Levels and changes to Level 2 qualifications. We will also look at a new pilot project designed to support BTEC learners as they transition into higher education, as well as the key headlines from Linking London's mapping of HE entry requirements for BTEC applicants.
We will be joined by Ria Bhatta, Head of Stakeholder Engagement at Pearson, who will draw on the key messages from the Government’s recently updated Post-16 Implementation Plan to provide an overview of the emerging timetable and plans for V Levels, BTECs and Level 2 and 3 qualifications.
With these changes widely described by the DfE as “once in a generation”, there will then be an opportunity for college and university colleagues to share their views and experiences. We will discuss preparations for the planned changes from 2027 onwards, including key challenges, opportunities for collaboration and how Linking London can support partners as the reforms develop.
We will also hear from Sarah Fisher, Uni Connect Programme Manager, about our innovative BTEC Transition Pilot Programme, which aims to help BTEC learners prepare more effectively for the transition into and through higher education, including lessons learnt so far.
And finally, Linking London colleagues will be sharing the key takeaways from our mapping of HE entry requirements for BTEC National Extended Diploma applicants for 2027 entry, including comparisons with previous mapping pieces.
The meeting is aimed primarily at FE colleagues, including teaching and curriculum leads and managers and careers advisers, alongside university colleagues working in admissions, widening participation and related areas. However, anyone with an interest in the future of BTECs, V Levels and the changing Level 2 and 3 qualifications landscape is very welcome to attend.
Please note this event is for Linking London Partners only.
