At the first Access to HE Diploma Practitioner Group meeting of the academic year, we will hear about the latest developments from the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), explore the current landscape of HE entry requirements for Access applicants, and hear about an innovative Access programme being delivered by one of our HE partners.
To start us off, Ann-Marie Karadia, Access to HE Diploma Officer at the QAA will be updating colleagues on their Access role, before outlining recent developments and future plans and ambitions for the qualification. Ann-Marie will also be updating the group on the latest Access to HE Statistics, including enrolment and completion figures, and progression to HE.
This will be followed by our regular round table update where we will be hearing the latest news from our college and university partners, including views on recruitment and how the start of term is shaping up and outreach offer to college learners.
Paul Browning, Director of Access and Higher Education at OCN London, will also be providing an overview of the latest OCN London news and developments.
We will then hear from Annette Richardson, Course Leader for Access to HE and Lecturer in Games and Animation at Ravensbourne, who will share insights into their innovative Access to HE Diploma. Annette will explore the unique opportunities, successes and challenges of delivering an Access programme within a university, as well as providing an overview of Ravensbourne’s innovative Accumulate programme, which supports adults experiencing homelessness in London.
And finally, Linking London will also be sharing details of our latest resources aimed at Access staff and learners, including the key headlines from our report mapping entry requirements for HE applicants, comparing data from last year with Access to HE Diploma requirements for 2027 entry, including good and poor practice.
These meetings are aimed at college Access teaching staff and heads of department, student support service staff and careers advisers, as well as university outreach and admissions staff, but anyone with an interest in Access to HE Diploma developments is very welcome to attend.
