When:
Venue: Birkbeck Main Building, Malet Street

Book your place

The UK asylum system is undergoing significant change. Join us for a panel discussion examining the impact of recent and proposed reforms, including measures outlined in government white papers, on people seeking asylum and the organisations that support them.

Drawing on expertise from across law, advocacy, and lived experience, our panellists will explore the practical, legal, and human implications of these changes. The discussion will consider the challenges and opportunities presented by the evolving policy landscape and what the future may hold for asylum and refugee protection in the UK.

Whether you are a practitioner, student, policymaker, or community member, this event offers an opportunity to engage with one of the most pressing issues in contemporary migration policy.

Our panel will be comprised of:

  • Wilson Ringnda Monde - Activist and Birkbeck Sanctuary Scholar
  • Nanou Thassinda - Activist and Birkbeck Sanctuary Scholar
  • Dr. Malak Benslama-Dabdoub - Lecturer in Law, Royal Holloway University
  • Anna Hetherton (chair) - Sanctuary Programme Manager
