This event will afford students, alumni and the general public insight into professions related to languages and linguistics.

Speakers include: Baldeep Hothi, Careers & Enterprise, Birkbeck, Raisa McNab, CEO at the UK’s Association of Translation Companies (ATC), Dr Russell Aldersson, British Sign Language interpreter, City Lit panel on teaching modern languages and linguistics, Rob Playfair, teacher of English for Academic Purposes, Centre for Academic English, Imperial College and Emmanouela Tsepi, Speech & Language therapist, NHS.

Questions addressed will include: 
What does a language professional do?
Why is it important?
What career pathways are there?
What qualifications might you need?
What key skills and attributes do you need?
What are the pros and cons of each profession?
How might students learn more about your profession e.g. via professional organizations; training etc. & are there possibilities for 'internships' or placements that you're aware of?
Are there internship opportunities and/or placement opportunities that students might avail themselves of in order to gain experience before applying for further courses or opportunities? 

Come prepared to ask questions of the speakers.
