You are warmly invited to our upcoming Accounting and Finance Research Seminar on Thursday, 4 June 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm UK time. The seminar will be delivered in a hybrid format, with both in-person and online participation available.

We are delighted to welcome Dr George Christodoulakis, Senior Lecturer in Finance at the University of Manchester.

Dr Christodoulakis is also a Birkbeck alumnus, having completed both his PhD and Master’s in Finance at the University of London, Birkbeck College.

About Dr George Christodoulakis

George Christodoulakis graduated from the University of London, Birkbeck College, with a PhD and Master’s in Finance. He previously studied at the Athens University of Economics and Business, where he obtained his first degree in Economics and a Master’s in Economics and Econometrics. He has held academic positions at Cass Business School, City, University of London, and the University of Exeter, and has served as an Advisor to the Governor of the Bank of Greece. Since 2006, he has been appointed at Manchester Business School. During a leave of absence from 2009 to 2012, he served as State Secretary and Chief Executive for Asset Restructuring and Privatisations of Greece. Dr Christodoulakis has also held several senior advisory and governance roles, including as a member of the Hellenic Corporate Governance Council and as a member of the Supervisory Board and Board of Directors of ICAP Credit Rating Agency. His research interests include credit and market risk, asset and risk management, mergers and acquisitions, state asset privatisations, financial stability and regulation, forecasting, behavioural finance, corporate governance, and responsible investment. His work draws on financial theory, econometrics, probability, and financial regulation.
