About our speakers:
Milla Hamunen is an Economics PhD researcher at Royal Holloway with a background in economics, statistics, and applied research methods. Before beginning her PhD, she worked for the UK government as an economist, specialising in urban, regional, and transport economics, including research on the impacts of transport investment on local economies and labour markets. She also contributed to an interdisciplinary policy research linked to the Pissarides Review into the Future of Work and Wellbeing. Her current research focuses on the impact of conflict on household coping mechanisms during the Myanmar war.
Charlie holds a BSc in Physics from the University of Southampton (2011) and is completing an MSc in Applied Statistics at Birkbeck (expected 2026). He began his career in the legal department of music publisher Warner Chappell before moving into an analytics role at Polydor Records. Artist management experience followed, developing an independent roster, then joining ATM Artists as Day-to-Day Manager, working on campaigns for DJ Snake including Taki Taki (#1 on Spotify globally for ~5 weeks) and on the Swedish House Mafia reunion. He returned to the label side from 2019 to 2023, joining Warner Records UK as an Analyst and progressing to Head of Data & Insight, leading campaign analytics across releases by Dua Lipa, PinkPantheress, Muse, LF SYSTEM and others. He then became Director of Analytics at ATM2, a catalogue management services company, building data products for superstar-tier catalogue rights holders. He continues in independent artist management alongside his studies and is in the process of establishing a consultancy practice.
