Visualising coastal change: Norfolk coast case study

Touching upon Year 1’s module at Birkbeck ‘Dynamic Environments’, this engaging two-hour session with Professor Becky Briant explores the sea-level rise challenges Norfolk’s varied coastline and its protection. The session will be held in one of Birkbeck’s Immersive Learning Lab with the latest VR and AR technologies, followed by a campus tour of Birkbeck, University of London.

The North Norfolk coast is under threat from rising sea levels, yet very complicated to defend because coastal features vary across the coast including cliffs saltmarshes and sand dunes. In this taster lecture we will take you on a virtual field visit to Norfolk, exploring case studies of topics covered at A-Level and giving a taster of Birkbeck's first year of teaching.
