About the event
In this bespoke Alumni Network Enterprise event, alumna Patricia Wing (LLB 2017) will walk you through the essentials of setting up a business and the different types of funding available, without assuming any prior legal or financial knowledge. You’ll gain practical insights into what “investment ready” looks like at the early stages, how to confidently work out how much funding you actually need (and avoid raising too much or too little), and how to manage the often-overlooked personal transition from PAYE employment to becoming a business owner.
Alongside the technical fundamentals, the session will also explore the human side of entrepreneurship—covering mindset shifts, personal considerations and common challenges faced by first-time founders. Expect clear explanations, real-world examples and honest advice you can immediately apply, whatever stage you’re at.

The session will be led by Patricia Wing (LLB 2017), CEO and Cofounder of SuLe, a smart legal platform making legal support more affordable and accessible for startups and SMEs. A qualified corporate lawyer and second-time founder, Patricia brings both legal expertise and lived startup experience, making this session especially valuable for those new to business, finance or legal topics.
