This seminar is open to all Birkbeck postgraduate research students. It is led by a member of the faculty, who presents the first paper of the term. Students are the speakers at the remaining seminars of the term; they present papers about their own research, and the faculty member chairs the subsequent discussion. We see attendance at this seminar as an important part of being a research student, since it gives students the opportunity to try out their ideas on their peers, and to defend the ideas in the discusssion.
