This year’s Bernal Lecture will be delivered by Professor Alison Noble CBE FRS FREng and will explore how artificial intelligence is transforming both basic and applied science, with a particular focus on medical ultrasound imaging.

Drawing on research from her group, Professor Noble will demonstrate how deep learning techniques are advancing the understanding of sonographer skill, enabling assistive technologies, and supporting more precise image analysis. She will also reflect on the wider implications of AI for scientific practice, including challenges around reproducibility, trust, and the evolving skills required for responsible research.

Agenda:

16:30: Lecture and Q&A (doors to open at 16:00)
