Developed and delivered by Melanie Ferreira, Communication Skills for Work aims to enhance employability for forced migrants by focusing on communication and English language skills, addressing the nuances that appear in the UK workplace.
Using a trauma informed approach, Melanie has developed a 5 week course. Each session equips participants with practical skills, techniques and approaches to apply immediately. Participants also reflect on the ways in which they regularly communicate and consider a range of particular linguistic tools to use to their advantage.
Please note you need to be from aforced migrant background to part-take in this session (e.g. asylum seeker, refugee, settled status as a result of an asylum claim). If you are unsure, please contact thecompassproject@bbk.ac.uk.
