When:
—
Venue:
Online
This workshop is for Birkbeck students. Book your place in My Birkbeck / Events and Workshops (not sure how to do that? Watch this short video guide!). If you use the link above to book, please use your Birkbeck student email address to sign up - thanks!
- Are you confused by or new to academic referencing?
- Have you been told that you need to work on your referencing skills?
- Do you want to learn the basics of what referencing is, why we do it, and what it looks like?
If you've answered yes to any of these questions, then join us for this introductory session on the basics of referencing. We'll consider what referencing is and why it's important for academic writing. We'll consider when you need to reference, as well as when you don't need to reference. Finally, we'll look at some different examples of referencing to understand what referencing looks like in practice.
Please note that this session will not cover the detailed mechanics of referencing in a particular style. We will look at examples of referencing styles used across the College; however, the content of this session is not style-specific, so no matter which style you need to use, this workshop will be relevant for you.
