There is growing evidence that immersive media can help the public grasp the complexities of climate change in vivid and meaningful ways. In this workshop, the Immersive Learning Centre’s Digital Education Consultant, James Cull, will showcase a selection of immersive storytelling tools that highlight environmental issues through compelling visual means.

Attendees will be able to try resources such as Sea Level Rising, which uses drone imagery to reveal how Californian coastal cities may be affected by future flooding; AR Reef, an Augmented Reality model illustrating coral reef degradation; and immersive short films including Climate Change on the Navajo Nation, a 360° exploration of how extreme weather and shrinking water resources are reshaping daily life for a Navajo family. These tools demonstrate how immersive media can create powerful learning moments around one of the most urgent challenges of our time.
