Diversity in Developmental Science Conference 2026
When:
—
Venue:
Birkbeck Clore Management Centre
This conference will explore inclusive research practices, strategies for broadening representation in developmental science samples, and ways of fostering a more equitable and supportive research culture. Through a mix of keynote talks, panel discussions, and interactive workshops, the event aims to create space for sharing practical approaches, learning from lived and professional experience, and reflecting on how we can collectively improve research practice.
Alongside discussions of methodological and institutional change, the conference places a strong emphasis on empowering students and early-career researchers from underrepresented and minoritised backgrounds, with sessions focused on career development, funding, and navigating academic pathways.
The conference is open to researchers and practitioners at all career stages, from doctoral students to senior academics, as well as anyone with an interest in inclusive developmental science. It offers an opportunity to connect, learn, and contribute to shaping a more inclusive future for the field.
We will also be holding a poster session, providing researchers with the opportunity to present work on any topic within developmental science (posters do not need to focus on diversity or inclusion). A poster prize of £50 will be awarded for the best poster.
To support accessibility, travel awards of up to £100 are available for students and early-career researchers.
Please see below for the detailed agenda, download the programme here, or visit our website for further information. The programme includes parallel workshops; registered attendees will be contacted closer to the event to indicate their workshop preference.
