2026 Birkbeck Three Minute Thesis Competition

On Thursday 21 May we will be holding the final of the Birkbeck 2026 Three Minute Thesis Competition. You are invited to join the audience for this exciting event to experience a diverse range of work from Doctoral Researchers across the College.
Following the competition there will be a celebration and reception for the winners and attendees.
About the competition
Join a selection of Birkbeck's PhD students as they compete to communicate their compelling thesis topics in just three minutes. The winner will be chosen by an expert panel of judges who will award:
- £500 to the overall winner
- £250 to the runner up
The competition will take place in front of a public audience and will be filmed and available online after the event. The audience will also get a chance to have their say by picking a People’s Choice winner who’ll win a special prize.
Who can can enter as a competitor?
Competitors must be current Birkbeck doctoral students and be at least 6 months into their research studies.They must also have the permission of their supervisor.
