Do you identify as an introvert? Do you find group work a challenge? If so, you might find it helpful to attend this workshop.

Working effectively as part of a group is an important skill that you will need to develop as a university student. If you identify as an introvert, you may find group work a challenge. Introversion does not necessarily mean that you are shy or quiet. Introversion and extroversion relate to energy levels: introverts tend to gain their energy from being alone and being introspective. This can be difficult when working in groups. How might you navigate these challenges so that you feel better able to participate and contribute confidently during group work?

In this workshop, we will:

  • identify what being an introvert means to you.
  • reflect on your preferred communication style.
  • consider practical strategies for working in group work situations as an introvert.
  • look at ways to manage energy levels when participating in group work.
  • consider what you will take away from the session and implement.
