Birkbeck Centre for Applied Macroeconomics Lecture: The State of the UK Economy

Prof. Jagjit S. Chadha is a leading UK macroeconomist whose work sits at the intersection of academic research and UK economic policy. In this lecture, he will gauge the widely disappointing performance of the British economy since the financial crisis, with a particular emphasis on the causal influences of monetary and fiscal policies, without ignoring the role of our outdated institutions and incessant political turmoil. He believes a sharp relative decline can be averted, and will suggest some possible solutions.

The lecture is a preview of his forthcoming book, "Opportunity Lost: Searching for British Economic Growth" to be published by Cambridge University Press.
