Digital skills workshop: Organising your digital resources for your studies
When:
—
Venue:
Birkbeck Main Building, Malet Street
This workshop is for Birkbeck students. Book your place in My Birkbeck / Events and Workshops (not sure how to do that? Watch this short video guide!). If you use the link above to book, please use your Birkbeck student email address to sign up - thanks!
- Do you find yourself losing files and documents on your computer all the time?
- Are you confused about downloading and saving files?
- Do you find yourself constantly re-downloading the same documents from Moodle or the web over and over again?
If so, this may be the workshop for you!
This session will consider ways of organising your files for your studies. It will cover the basic principles of the file explorer window on PCs, and One Drive as a tool for cloud and offline storage. It will then cover the practical procedures for creating a meaningful system of folders and files, how to rename and move or copy files, and how to search for and find files once you have saved them. If time, we’ll also briefly look at organising online-only sources such as ebooks and websites. This will be a practical ‘learn by doing’ session, taking place in the IT suite, though you are encouraged to bring your own laptops if possible.
Please note that this session takes place in person at Birkbeck.
