Digital skills workshop: Formatting your document in Word (online)
When:
—
Venue:
Online
Many assignments at university will be submitted online, and in many cases, you will be expected to use Microsoft Word or a similar document application to write your assignments.
This session will consider the key procedures for formatting documents in Microsoft Word, including fonts, paragraphing, spacing, margins, and headers/footers, as well as naming and saving files. It will also cover some useful additional features such as page and section breaks and styles, how to add footnotes or endnotes, and how to insert page numbers. This will give you all the basic tools you need—and more—to ensure that you can create and format Word documents both efficiently and effectively, and thus present a professional and polished assignment to your lecturers.
Note that this session will focus on the desktop version of Word on Windows computers (not Apple/Mac, and not the web-based version in M365 online).
