When:
Venue: Birkbeck 43 Gordon Square

Book your place

Join us for a free screening of the short film Caring Together Against the Hostile Environment (Little Red Hen Films, 2025, 11 mins). The film forms part of a research project with a group of refugee and people seeking asylum in London, a collaboration between Stories & Supper, Phosphoros Theatre and Dr Olivia Sheringham (Birkbeck). The film was created during the project’s residential weekend, the culmination of a series of creative workshops which used theatre, creative storytelling and play to explore themes of radical care, home and solidarity in the context of a hostile migration regime. The event will begin with a short introduction to the wider project and will be followed by a panel discussion and Q & A with members of the project team. Some free copies of our collective project zine will also be available.

This event is part of Being Human Festival, the UK’s national festival of the humanities, taking place 6 - 15 November 2025. Led by the School of Advanced Study, University of London, with generous support from Research England, in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy.
