The Power of Emotional Intelligence - Coaching Strategies for Personal Growth
When:
—
Venue:
Birkbeck Main Building, Malet Street
We are delighted to invite Birkbeck alumni to our upcoming in-person meet-up this autumn, featuring a thought-provoking workshop led by leadership development coach Dale Thoroughgood (MSc Occupational Psychology, 2018).
October each year marks Emotional Intelligence Awareness Month. Through practical exercises and insightful discussion in an informal setting, you will explore what emotional intelligence (EI) means and how it can enhance your personal effectiveness, leadership style and relationships, both professionally and personally.
What to expect from the workshop:
Delivered in an interactive format, this 80-minute session will provide an engaging mix of self-reflection, small group activities and practical tools. Participants will:
- Gain a clear understanding of what emotional intelligence is—and why it matters
- Learn how EI contributes to performance, wellbeing, leadership and team dynamics
- Identify and assess their own emotional competencies, such as self-awareness, empathy and relationship management
- Discover how greater emotional awareness can help manage stress, avoid burnout and foster more fulfilling professional interactions
Why attend?
Open to all alumni, this event is designed to offer both meaningful learning and the chance to reconnect with fellow Birkbeck graduates. Whether you are an early-career professional or an experienced leader, this workshop will provide relevant insights and skills that can be applied across a wide range of roles and industries.
The evening will conclude with refreshments and an opportunity to network, putting some of the workshop’s principles into practice in conversation with peers from the Birkbeck community. We look forward to welcoming you back to Birkbeck.
