Psychology on Earth and Beyond

When:
Venue: Birkbeck Central

Book your place

What happens to our behaviour when we leave planet Earth? Gravity isn’t just what keeps us grounded - it fundamentally shapes how our brain functions and how we act.

Join Prof. Elisa Raffaella Ferre, Head of Birkbeck’s School of Psychological Sciences and Cognitive Neuroscientist, as she explores how spaceflight affects cognition and behaviour. This thought-provoking talk combines psychological research with space science, uncovering how changes in gravity can alter decision making, risk-taking and even our sense of self.

Before the talk, join us for a guided campus tour led by our current students, who will share what it’s really like to study psychology at Birkbeck. It’s a great chance to ask questions, explore our Bloomsbury campus and get a feel for university life.

Whether you’re fascinated by the psychology of spaceflight or curious about how the mind works closer to home, this session offers a glimpse into the kinds of research-led teaching you’ll experience on Birkbeck’s BSc Psychology. Our programme is accredited by the British Psychological Society and is taught by world-class researchers.
