Come and join us for our BA Philosophy programme Offer Holder afternoon.

BA Philosophy programme is a part of the School of Historical Studies.

You will have the opportunity to chat with our staff Robert Northcott find out more about the programme.

Robert Northcott is currently working on a book, tentatively titled 'Science in a Fragile World', about how to investigate a world in which laws and causal relations are intermittent and unpredictable. Although his research is mainly in philosophy of science, he has also written extensively on related themes in metaphysics, especially the notions of causation and causal explanation.

On Birkbeck’s BA Philosophy you will explore ancient answers and new perspectives on our place in the world. It also provides you with a thorough grounding in the central areas of philosophy, while giving you highly transferable skills such as:

  • independent judgement
  • critical thought
  • the ability to analyse complex ideas and arguments.

Birkbeck is a leading centre for philosophical research in the UK. All of our established members of academic staff are active researchers, and our excellence in both teaching and research is consistently reflected in UK and international surveys.

Birkbeck teaching takes place in the evening, leaving you free to study, volunteer or explore London during the day.

This event will be online.
