Critical thinking is the cornerstone of studying at university. It is an academic skill that encompasses other academic skills (such as reading, note-making and writing for academic purposes), and plays a key part in achieving high grades. This session will consider what is meant by critical thinking and what is expected of you as a critical thinker. You will also encounter the key questions with which to approach critical reading and writing in the initial stages of your studies.
In addition to this workshop, a second workshop called 'Building and evaluating academic argument' is available after this one at 13.30-14.30 which also deals with critical thinking and can also be booked on the events booking system.
