About this session

This in person event is for current Birkbeck Diversity100 doctoral researchers and will include 

  • a welcome for new Diversity 100 doctoral researchers
  • a chance for D100 doctoral studnets to meet with tea and coffee
  • an overview of the activities for the year ahead and discussion among D100 students

The session will be chaired by Dr William Ackah (Diversity 100 Academic Coordinator) with support from Tim Hoe, BGRS Manager.

 

SCHEDULE FOR THE SESSION

3pm - 3.30pm: Welcome to new D100 students  

This first 30 minutes will be for those who started their D100 studentship this Autumn term 

 

3.30pm: Arrival of returning D100 studentship holders

 

3.30pm - 3.40pm: An overview from William Ackah (Diversity100 Academic Coordinator)

The overview will include

  • An outline for meetings through the year
    • The proposal will be for 1 meeting per term to provide opportunities to gain experience presenting and discussing your work and sharing experiences with other D100 students.
    • Discussion of a proposed Summer term event
  • To note Dr William Ackah as a point of contact for D100 students in addition to supervisors or faculty contacts 

 

3.40 - 4.15pm: Tea/ coffee 

An informal chance to speak with other D100 doctoral students to

  • share your interests, motivations, and what has brought you to doctoral research.
  • share ideas about what kinds of support would be useful during the termly meetings
  • share ideas about what the features of the summer event could be 

 

4.15pm: Re-group and discuss issues that were raised over tea coffee
