Postgraduate Research Student Library Skills: Data Management Plans for PGRs
When:
—
Venue:
Birkbeck Main Building, Malet Street
A Data Management Plan (DMP) describes the data that a project will create or collection, how this data will be processes and stored, how it will be kept securely and backed up, and how it will be archived at the end of the project.
DMPs are usually no more than a few pages long, and vary in format by funders. They play a crucial role in anticipating and mitigating data-related challenges that may arise during the project. By planning a backup strategy in advance, they help prevent data loss.
The College expects all funded research to have a DMP, and all applications to the College Ethics Committee are required to have one prior to approval.
Aims and objectives
This session will cover the essential components of a DMP and introduce you to DMPonline, a valuable tool that simplifies the DMP creation process.
You'll learn:
- Why Data Management Plans are important in research today
- What goes into a DMP
- How to use DMPonline
This session will be facilitated by:
David McElroy, Research Data Support Manager
THIS IS AN EVENT FOR BIRKBECK POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH STUDENTS ONLY
