As part of our 200th Anniversary commemorations we are proud to welcome Nilufer von Bismarck OBE who, as Climate Director at Legal & General and a champion of social mobility, will bring to life her own leadership journey from private legal practice to her non-executive role at Legal & General and trusteeship of IntoUniversity, alongside sharing her views on how we can all lead change for a more sustainable future.

Nilufer will be joined by Jack Roper, Group Head of Sustainability at Legal & General, who will share the exciting plans for Birkbeck’s new partnership with Legal & General and how the business is addressing the most challenging issues of our time.

Birkbeck’s Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research, Professor Julian Swann, will host the lecture and will invite the audience to join the discussion with a Q&A.

The lecture will be followed by a drinks reception.

Nilufer von Bismarck OBE
Nilufer is an Independent Non-Executive Director at Legal & General, where she was appointed as the designated workforce and climate Director in April 2022.

Nilufer was previously the Head of the Financial Institutions Group and the Equity Capital Markets practice at Slaughter and May and has spent a large part of her 34-year career working with major international financial institutions. She has an extensive understanding of the real estate, green infrastructure and fintech sectors.

Nilufer is passionate about diversity and inclusion. Whilst at Slaughter and May, she was a member of the firm's diversity and inclusion group and is a trustee of IntoUniversity, a charity which provides local learning centres where young people are inspired to achieve.
