Abu Yusuf Ya'qub ibn 'Ishaq as-Sabbah al-Kindi was the first self-identified philosopher of the Arabic tradition. He worked tirelessly to synthesise Greek philosophy and the wisdom of Isalmic faith. But why have so many of us not heard of him and what exactly were his theories of the nature of God and causation in the world?
