Join Lily and Vaibhav as they talk about their experiences of hidden and visible disabilities, how they have chosen to speak about them with employers and their career paths.

Lily:
Lily works for Kaleidoscope Group as Talent Acquisition Manager. She is a careers and employability specialist, disability equality advocate, integrative psychotherapist and mentor motivated by making a meaningful difference in the lives of others, increasing human capital and social mobility through awareness raising, education, connection and engagement. “Standing up for injustice and inequality is what lights a fire within me”.
Lily was awarded the 'outstanding academic achievement' award with the highest First-Class Honours in Counselling and Psychotherapy whilst living with multiple hidden disabilities and surviving a 16-hour life threatening operation mid degree. A registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) with 10 years extensive experience of working with adults and children across public, charitable and private sector (NHS, Samaritans, Mind, Place2Be). Lily has conducted qualitative research on the impact of compassion fatigue within the NHS, and exhibits a strong evidence-based focus and data driven mindset whilst balancing that with the belief that in a technological age ‘being human is our superpower’.
A proven creative thought leader and project manager who has created, marketed, run and managed virtual events and careers fairs for employers and university faculties – including during the pandemic. A fundraiser, youth mentor and leader, and volunteer listener. Lily has been a peer mentor, professional mentor, student ambassador and clinical supervisor. She has lectured at the University of East London, tutored secondary school students from deprived backgrounds through the entry process in to higher education, apprenticeships or employment and delivered children’s mental health week programmes to primary school children in South West London.
It is Lily’s mission to combine her diverse skillset with 24 years of lived experience of multiple hidden disabilities to help realise a world where equality, diversity and inclusion are celebrated and lay at the heart of both society and every workplace.
Vaibhav:
Vaibhav is an associate in the firm’s Global Corporate Group.
Vaibhav has experience in advising on State Aid and Public Procurement obligations, Risk Management, drafting Policies and Risk Exposure Profile. He has also advised on Light Touch Regime, De Minimis State Aid Rules and Collaboration Agreements. He has worked on EU Merger Filing Notifications to get clearance from the EU Commission. Vaibhav's practice also includes public interest tests, national security concerns and price control references, key legal themes that have characterised the competition landscape in recent years.
Vaibhav has also advised on aspects of Fund Marketing such as pre-marketing, marketing, reverse solicitation and passporting. He has worked on due diligence, financial promotions, Capital requirement regulation, as well as corporate lending services. Vaibhav also works on business development and knowledge management initiatives for both Competition and Financial Regulation.
Vaibhav has trained at Reed Smith LLP sitting in Admiralty, Banking & Finance, Knowledge Management, Competition and Antitrust, as well as Financial Regulation. He qualified in September 2018 focusing on Competition, Financial Regulation and Knowledge Management.
He has co-authored many articles and client alerts published both internally and externally. Vaibhav is an active participant in our Diversity & Inclusion initiatives and a member of our Looking for Excellence and Advancement of persons with Disabilities at Reed Smith (LEADRS) affinity group.
