We're thrilled to invite you to Professor Michael West CBE's presentation on compassionate leadership in healthcare. His talk is part of the series of online guest seminars we are hosting this autumn at the Centre for Sustainable Working Life and as part of the Professional Doctorate in Occupational Health, Psychology, and Management (OHPM).
In this presentation, Michael West will highlight key areas of learning from the pandemic across health and social care, including the importance of innovation, compassionate cultures and compassionate leadership, team and inter-team working and learning and reflection. He will draw on research and case examples to describe how to develop compassionate leadership across health and care organisations, describing the core elements and myths of compassionate leadership. The presentation will draw on the two national reviews he led into mental health and well being of doctors and of nurses and midwives across the UK. Finally, it will describe some key principles for team working and virtual team working during the pandemic and will describe how we can better develop cultures of reflection, innovation and psychological safety across health and care services.
The event will take place via Teams, on Thursday, 29th October, between 9.50am and 11.20AM. Here is an approximate schedule for the day:
