Birkbeck has been providing world-class training in economics and mathematics since 1826. The 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF) results show that 84% of our economics and econometrics research outputs are ranked 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent'.

Our graduates have gone on to careers in government (The Bank of England, HM Treasury, The Foreign and Commonwealth Office), in banking and finance (UBS, Lloyds, HSBC), and in accountancy and international consultancy (EY, PWC, Frontier Economics).

Evening teaching allows our students to work or gain essential experience during their degrees, putting our graduates at an advantage. Our graduates in economics and maths earn 29% and 33% more than the British average for graduates of these programmes (source: Department for Education).

Goldman Sachs Bursaries for Economics and Finance Students
