Course Overview

The SME Masterclass: Building a Purpose Driven Business will explore the crucial role of your mission, vision and company values as tools for driving business growth. Understanding the vision, mission and purpose of an organisation can help to amplify this message within and outside of the business and can set beliefs and behaviours that influence customer interactions. As small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) scale, maintaining a centralised view of the core business mission is crucial as the role of the founder changes.

This two-hour short course will demonstrate ways to inspire and create a shared sense of purpose within the organisation. You will be able to identify the common mistakes that can occur when a business articulates its mission, and will explore the importance of brand personality in defining your marketing messaging.

You will cover:

  • the strategic value of vision, purpose and brand, and how these link to customer value propositions and competitive advantage
  • effectively constructing vision, mission and value statements that are relevant to the size of your SME
  • the meaning of brand components and how they add value to your business and customers
  • the role of your vision in supporting organisational culture and boosting employee engagement.

The SME Masterclass: Building a Purpose Driven Business is ideal for SME leaders looking for structure and support when implementing their vision and mission into the business. You will learn through a blend of presentation, discussion and exercises which focus particularly on the challenges that SME leaders may face when undertaking these activities in various types of businesses.

As a learner on this course, you will study alongside fellow professionals wishing to enhance their knowledge in the subject area, giving you the opportunity to make connections with like-minded colleagues and network.

You will receive a Birkbeck certificate of participation upon completing the course.

This course is non-credit bearing, so carries no credit points.
