Our Screenwriting short course offers you the chance to develop the skills and techniques you need to create an effective script. We will explore and analyse ideas and formats relating to story, characterisation and structure. We will also examine:

  • conflict

You will also be encouraged to develop professional writing habits.

Assessment is via a character profile of 500 words (0%), a 10-minute script, which consists of a complete story in correct script format (75%) and an evaluation essay of at least 1000 words (25%).

As a student on this course, you will study alongside Birkbeck students enrolled on one of our undergraduate or postgraduate courses, giving you the opportunity to network with a range of Birkbeck current students whilst you learn.
