Course Overview

The ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) course provides you with the preparation, skillset and knowledge required to take the CISSP examination and enhance your cybersecurity career prospects. As an ISC2 academic training partner, Birkbeck's CISSP course follows the official ISC2 Common Body of Knowledge (CBK), enabling you to approach your certification with clarity and confidence. You will be taught by an authorised and trained ISC2 instructor. 

The CISSP certification covers a broad range of topics which demonstrate a strong technical and managerial knowledge in the field of information security and cybersecurity. 

The course content will cover the eight domains that make up the CISSP exam:

• Security and risk management
• Asset security
• Security architecture and engineering
• Communication and network security
• Identity and access management (IAM)
• Security assessment and testing
• Security operations
• Software development security

This course offers an instructor-led, in-person learning experience over five days to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the knowledge required to take the ISC2 CISSP exam. The course fee is inclusive of the five-day training, a digital student kit, and an exam voucher which can be redeemed for taking your exam through ISC2's authorised exam channels. 

The CISSP certification is designed for those with significant experience as security practitioners, managers and executives who wish to prove their knowledge across these security practices and principles and gain a well-recognised industry certification which is seen as a valuable asset in cybersecurity. 

To qualify for the CISSP certification, individuals must pass the exam and have at least five years of cumulative, paid work experience in two or more of the eight domains in the exam outline. This level of experience is recommended to ensure learners get good value from the course. You can find out more about experience eligibility by reading the CISSP Experience Requirements. If you do not currently have five years of qualifying experience, you may take and pass the CISSP exam and become an Associate of ISC2. You will then have six years to earn the required work experience.
