Intermediate Greek II

Course Overview

Our Intermediate Greek II short course will help you to advance your knowledge of Classical Greek to a higher level, with the guidance of an expert tutor. You will enhance and consolidate your knowledge of Classical Greek grammar, sentence structure and vocabulary. You will gain confidence in reading unadapted Classical Greek literature, both prose and verse. Together, we will work through increasingly complex grammar and syntax, before turning our attention to original samples of Classical Greek literature, tailored to student needs and interests.

The teaching on Intermediate Greek II is stimulating and versatile. By equipping you with a deep knowledge of Classical Greek, we enable you to read and translate complex passages of Classical Greek literature. You will practise Greek grammar and syntax through translation exercises both from Greek into English and from English into Greek. You will read closely portions of unadapted literary texts, for example, a selected book of Homer’s Iliad.

By the end of Intermediate Greek II, you will:

• have gained a deeper understanding of Greek grammar and syntax
• confidently be able to translate unadapted Classical Greek prose
• write your own complex sentences in Greek
• have enhanced your skills in processing information and in team work.

As one of two courses, you can take Intermediate Greek II after you have taken Intermediate Greek I, or you can take them as individual short courses. 

Please note: each weekly session will be two hours in length and run from 6pm to 8pm.

This course is non-credit bearing, so carries no credit points.
