The Finance for Non-Finance Managers: Corporate Finance course provides a practical introduction to corporate finance for professionals in managerial roles with little prior financial experience. You will explore how organisations make financial decisions relating to investments, funding and performance, and how these decisions support strategic business objectives.
The course will focus on business application, enabling you to better understand and interpret the financial information that you may come across in the workplace and allowing you to confidently contribute to financial discussions.
You will gain knowledge about:
- how organisations raise and manage finance
- the cost of capital and its relevance to decision-making
- capital budgeting and investment appraisal techniques
- capital structure and dividend policy
- cash-flow management.
By the end of the Finance for Non-Finance Managers: Corporate Finance course, you will have a greater understanding of the relationship between finance, strategy and decision-making.
As a learner on this course, you will study alongside fellow professionals wishing to enhance their knowledge in the subject area, giving you the opportunity to make connections with like-minded colleagues and network.
You will also receive a Birkbeck certificate of participation upon completion of the course.
This course is non-credit bearing, so carries no credit points.

Most of our short courses have no formal entry requirements and are open to all students.
This short course has no prerequisites.
As part of the registration process, you may be required to submit a copy of a suitable form of ID.
International students who wish to come to the UK to study a short course can apply for a Visitor visa. Please note that it is not possible to obtain a Student visa to study a short course.
