Module description

This module aims to develop your:

  • capacity for self-knowledge and self-reflection, especially an understanding of one’s 'inner world' and how this impacts on counselling/therapy work
  • capacity for ethical and professional thinking and practice as a psychodynamic counsellor/therapist
  • psychological/emotional maturity to demonstrate 'readiness for clinical placement', and, if accepted for clinical placement, to begin clinical work.

Learning objectives

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • think psychodynamically about counselling/therapy issues, and make professional communications about counselling/therapy work
  • self-reflect, especially about how your 'inner world' impacts on counselling/therapy work, and your role in groups and institutions
  • think professionally and ethically in counselling/therapy.
