Module description
The objective of this module is to equip you with the skills required to successfully conduct research and write a dissertation. We will model the process involved in designing and conducting a research project for a dissertation and the course will cover all aspects of the research process: identifying a research topic, doing a literature review, choosing a methodology, data-gathering, data analysis and writing-up.

- Doing a literature review
- Choosing a quantitative method: surveys, statistical data-sets
- Choosing a qualitative method: interviews, ethnography, focus groups, and visual data
- Clarifying the research question and writing a research proposal

Learning objectives
After completing this module, you will:
- have the skills to write a comprehensive critical literature review and understand the links between research questions and research methods
- understand how to collect and analyse qualitative and quantitative data.
