Module description

This module provides an introduction to cognition and emotion. You will evaluate the evidence from research with clinical and non-clinical populations and review theoretical approaches in the area of cognition and emotion. You will also be given an overview of cognitive models of therapy.

    Learning objectives

    By the end of this module, you should be able to:

    • list the main theories or issues covered in each lecture topic
    • critically evaluate each theory with reference to the relevant literature
    • discuss the relationship between cognition and emotion
    • critically evaluate the research techniques in cognition and emotion
    • understand models of cognitive therapy.
