The Politics of Gender and Modern German Culture

This module aims to offer an interdisciplinary exploration of gender in German culture from the turn of the nineteenth century to the present day. It will enable you to explore the representations of masculinity and femininity in literature and film will provide you with the opportunity to analyse these in relation to other discourses about gender - philosophical, political and psychoanalytical - and understand them in historical context.
