Cyber-safety: Bullying and Harassment (level 5)

Module description

This course will explore the threats and impact of cybercrime. By looking at a range of criminal case law and legislation, the course builds the skills and knowledge that are necessary for developing critical legal skills. The course draws upon critical legal research, addressing a number of issues concerning cyber safety, including human rights and impact on victims.

The course is delivered face to face and online; you will be expected to study independently and actively while also engaging in collaborative learning. Attendance at the three workshops is essential as well as weekly online collaboration. Assessment methods include online-group discussion and small-group project. At the end of the course you will be able to design and produce a social-awareness cyber-safety leaflet. Topics will focus on: online romance scam, harassment and stalking, and cyber bullying.

  • critically assessed the nature of cybercrime
  • evaluated case law and legislation concerning cybercrime
  • researched and discussed critical legal issues concerning cybercrime
  • participated in a social-awareness cyber-safety project.
