Module description

In this module you will gain the skills to perform well academically and in your professional life. It aims to help you define your career and academic goals, and provide you with the study and academic skills required to excel in your degree, including:

  • IT skills to produce basic quantitative analyses, and
  • written and language skills to summarise information and produce reports.

Learning objectives

By the end of the module, you will be able to:

  • gather and assimilate information from lectures
  • learn how to use Excel in both take-home and formal assessments
  • gather data and other information from reputable sources
  • read, cite and critically assess external research
  • structure arguments in essays and reports
  • conduct a quantitative analysis using Microsoft Excel
  • present an analysis professionally suing Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
