Module description

Key finance topics covered on this module include: stock valuation, valuation with leverage, mergers and acquisitions, financial options and other derivatives and their valuation, real options and corporate risk management. The individual coursework consists of a major public company analysis and valuation.

The module focuses on the principles and practices of how the firm values its business and manages risk. Its objective is to develop technical, analytical and critical skills in advanced finance topics.

Learning objectives

By the end of this module, you will understand:

  • alternative stock valuation methods and valuation with leverage
  • the main motives and implications of mergers and acquisitions
  • how financial options, real options and other derivatives work, how they are valued and their practical use in risk management and capital budgeting.
