Corporate Finance

Overview

  • Credit value: 15 credits at Level 7
  • Convenor: Emanuela Sciubba
  • Assessment: a two-hour examination (80%) and coursework (20%)

Module description

The course considers two broad sets of questions. The first part of the course focuses on assessing investment opportunities and (real and financial) asset valuation. The second part considers how to raise funds necessary to finance investments. Here, special attention is devoted to implications of informational asymmetries, the possibility of bankruptcy and differential tax treatments of debt and equity incomes.

The analysis will then broaden to allow for the possibility that debt/equity choices may influence the corporate decision-making process.
